Description:
A blend of natural sites, spiritual places, and local factories, this circuit will enchant any traveler passionate about traditional architecture. The Tata Somba, traditional dwellings in the northern region of Benin, are inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage. Visitors are captivated by their unique architecture, resembling small castles carefully assembled to house a family. With this 6-day itinerary, you’ll have the opportunity to observe them up close and even take photographs.
However, the visits begin in the city of Dassa, where you’ll explore its famous hills and other emblematic spaces. Subsequently, you will proceed to the cities of Natitingou and Atakora, then to the villages of Tata Somba and Kouandé. Have you ever met or interacted with a real king? In Kouandé, you will be received by the Bariba king, and you’ll learn about the enduring feudal customs that persist in Benin.
